Spotlight Piece
One of Len's most ambitious works, this sweeping 22×40 inch piece captures the electric atmosphere of race day at Saratoga Springs. Three thoroughbreds thunder toward the finish line, jockeys leaning into every stride — all rendered in precision laser-cut layers with hand-applied paint. The background trees and grandstand signage complete the scene with the feel of a vintage sports painting.
The Artist
Hi! I'm Len. I make flags and related designs on wood for hanging on walls both inside and out. I am a 28-year veteran of the US Air Force. In my recent retired years, I have been looking for something to keep me busy as I enjoy making and creating.
I started by making a few flags from old pallets for my own home and realized I really enjoyed the creative process. Some friends mentioned how they'd love to have the same pieces hanging on their garages, barns, or sheds — and that's what got me thinking I could share my love for these designs with others as a small business.
For now I'm focusing on in-person sales at craft and makers markets in the Capital District area of Upstate New York. I will be looking closely at online sales as the business grows.
How It's Made
